Russia says Britain requested permission for spy plane to fly over Russia

MOSCOW, Aug 16 (Reuters) – Russia’s defense ministry said on Tuesday that Britain had requested permission to fly its RC-135 spy plane over Russia, calling the move a “deliberate provocation.”

A British Ministry of Defense source denied that Britain had sought permission to fly a spy plane over Russia.

Russia’s Air Force is tasked with preventing violations of Russian airspace, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
