Oscar winning Hollywood actor Jessica Chastain was in Kyiv, Ukraine, over the weekend. She visited the Okhmadyt Children’s Hospital on Sunday and later met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Head of Presidential Administration Andriy Yermak.
Chastain, who won this year’s best actress Oscar for her performance in “The Eye of Tammy Faye,” is the latest celebrity to show support for Ukraine, where the Russian invasion of the country continues.

Zelensky posted photos of the visit on his Telegram account with the note: “American actress Jessica Chastain is in Ukraine today. For us, such visits by famous people are very valuable. Thanks to this, the world will hear, know and understand more the truth about what is happening in our country. Thanks for the support!”
In his daily address to the people of Ukraine, Zelensky said: “Ukraine will do everything to make our struggle and Ukrainian needs known to all countries of the world and to all audiences – even those who do not usually follow political life. In particular, American actress Jessica Chastain arrived in Kiev today. She visited Okhmadit and saw with her own eyes the consequences of the Russian occupation of Irpin, Kyiv region.
“Her story about our war will surely be heard. We are creating an important humanitarian program,” Zelensky added. “And I am grateful to all friends of Ukraine abroad and to everyone who helped to develop our relations in the world. We are doing everything to win, doing everything to protect our country.
Hollywood A-listers who have previously visited Ukraine include Ben Stiller, Sean Penn, Liev Schreiber and Angelina Jolie.
